Once anon there was a Berg
'twas filled with Princes many
and Damsels lovely abode there too
and all those there were friendly
One day a Stranger rode there in
and made himself at home
Fine folk that there abode did smile
and offered him the Throne.
Low he bowed and grinned he did
but it was just a farce
for known to him a secret was
these folk would soon be scarce.
You see he had a master plan
that none would feign imagine
A Party bold, a Ball he'd give
that party'd be a'slammin'.
So invited he his loyal folk
to that fine royal ball
so came they did these princes fine
into that Royal Hall.
The King did then greet the guests
with a gracious kiss
out he held his hand so smooth
these frogs were in some bliss.
When suddenly a thing quite strange
occurred that no one would'd ever guess,
into Frogs these Princes changed
quite strange I do confess. His master plan was on the brink
of unadulterated success.Next into a Cauldron black and deep
these Frogs he now would sink,
ignite a flame beneath it then
to keep them nice and warm,
this noble king of theirs
would never do them harm.
Well, warm it was and comforting
that cauldron deep and black,
so swam they did so happily
no fear, no looking back.
Day by day his subjects swam therein
ignor'nt in their bliss,
they knew not their King's noble master plan.
Soon thereafter water warmedthey never even noticed,
too busy were these little frogs
to heed the inner voice..So slowly cooked that cauldron black
and those that were within
too late to move a feeble limb
too late to look back...
the king then emptied cauldron
of cooked cadaver frogs
those once proud princes' simply erred
in trusting in his charm.
And though they ended up as broth
The King said he needed food,
said the King so heartily
it was for the "greater good".
Now other Princes in that Berg were wiser than the others,
Duped not were these, were wiser than their brothers.
Through his master plan they saw
and kept their proper distance,
not being DUPED is half the battle,
especially in this instance.
They knew far better than yield to him
free will that they had.
Of freedom gained they'd not relent
to King corruption's rotten bent.
Whilst back in Royal Palace,
the King and Cohorts sipped cavalierly
on royal brew so green,
On tea quite green and slippery
STEW made from you and me...
